Student answer (Band 6.5)

Water is a basic necessity for all living beings, including humans, animals, trees/plants etc. Humans cannot survive without water more than 3 or 4 days.

However, having access to water is not necessary. A clean water is what humans need to live or survive. If it contains bacteria, it will eventually lead to severe diseases such as stomach infections, allergies or even constipation.

In this fast-growing world where everything is evolving, industrial growth is also in line. Where industries provide humans other necessities it also carries a detrimental impact. The one effect is industrial waste being dumped in oceans or lakes, which creates a red sign and a question arise, "Is this water drinkable or useable?". Many urban areas have a resolution of scientific chemicals to clean out the water. However, most of the rural areas lack this pragmatize remedy.

In addition, a supplier of clean water is now charging in order to have a basic right of clean and clear water. Most of the people cannot afford to have access to clean water and eventually they get diagnosed with severe diseases which sometimes become a reason for their death.

In my opinion, Government of every country or internation human health bodies should implement a policy or program to provide free of cost clean water to prevent this bone of contention.

To conclude, access to clean water is a basic human right and I highly favor that every person on this planet should have access to this without any hindrances of money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water access. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention industrial pollution and the financial burden on citizens, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. The essay is quite brief, and some points, such as the mention of 'constipation' as a primary disease caused by contaminated water, are not particularly relevant or persuasive in an academic context. To improve, you should expand on the economic or social implications of providing free water rather than just stating it is a right.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'The one effect is industrial waste' or 'a resolution of scientific chemicals'. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. While the logical flow is generally clear, the connection between the paragraphs could be strengthened by using more sophisticated linking words to show the relationship between industrial pollution, the cost of water, and the proposed government solutions.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You use some basic terms repeatedly, and there are instances of awkward word choices, such as 'pragmatize remedy' (which is not standard English) and 'a supplier of clean water is now charging'. The phrase 'bone of contention' is used correctly, which is a positive sign of attempting idiomatic language. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding non-standard word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'Humans cannot survive without water more than 3 or 4 days' (missing 'for'), 'A clean water is what humans need' (incorrect article usage), and 'a question arise' (subject-verb agreement). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles with uncountable nouns like 'water'.
