Student answer (Band 6.5)
Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore, every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. I am partially agreeing on this statement. As every need clean water for their sustainable growth or for household purposes free of charge because it is the human right and everyone has the right to equality. But if charges are not payable people use water efficiently and waste lots of water which leads to severe water shortage and pandemic like drought.
On the One Hand, people in urban and rural areas everyone needs water to fulfill their daily aspects. People who live in urban areas pay for the water supply but rural areas communities face problem due to financial crises. Not all have sufficient amount of money to pay for water supply and any other facilities. For instance, the one who work on fields for agriculture they need amount of water for their yields for farming. If farmer doesn't have money to pay for water supply due to heavy charges and taxes, then theirs is huge loss of crops and we will not get our daily fresh vegetables to eat.
On the other hand, if water supply gets free people take advantage. However, water is used in large quantities. Furthermore, it gives disadvantages for our own livelihood as everyone become free and use water in excess leads to loss of water, pandemic like Drought. For instance, most of the homes in the country India use water in excess and sometimes water is swapping out from the tape without any reason. It is the biggest Drawback if charges are not paid for the water supply.
In conclusion, using water is a basic human right but it must be paid so that equal proportion of using water in limited amount be there. People know then how much they use water as they have to pay for the water supply and avoid using excess water wastage.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a balanced position, acknowledging the human right to water while highlighting the necessity of pricing to prevent wastage. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding the 'pandemic like drought' is mentioned in both the introduction and the third paragraph without adding new depth. While the position is clear, the supporting examples, such as the mention of India, are a bit general. To reach a higher band, you should focus on extending your arguments with more specific socio-economic reasoning rather than repeating the same points about water wastage.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'theirs is huge loss of crops' or 'everyone become free and use water in excess'. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions feel mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and non-standard collocations, such as 'pandemic like drought' (drought is not a pandemic) and 'swapping out from the tape' (likely meaning 'dripping from the tap'). You also use 'amount of water' repeatedly. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and avoid repeating the same phrases. Expanding your range to include more topic-specific collocations related to resource management would significantly boost your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('everyone become free'), article usage ('the one who work'), and awkward sentence construction ('if charges are not payable people use water efficiently'). While your meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and correct verb tenses would be a highly effective way to improve your accuracy.
