Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is true that the water is one of the basic necessity for all human beings.Without water no one can imagine their life so in every home water should be supply for free of charge.I largely agree with the notion and will discuss some reason in the upcoming paragraphs.

To commence with, sometimes people use excessive amount of water at their home and work place. To explain this, sometimes no one cares about water they just keep on the tap and use badly for washing cars, gardening and many more in that case the bills of water is very important so people can not overuse of water.

On the other side, there are various reasons why water supply can be free of charge. The predominant one is for the poor family it can be burden of paying bills of water. To explain this, low income families that have less amount of money to fulfill their basic needs such as food and clothes so they do not have extra money for paying bills of water. For example, a news headline was published by World Health Organization in 2025 revealed that in undeveloped countries families face serious disease without access to clean water. Therefore, providing a basic free water supply can improve public health and reduce healthcare cost.

In conclusion,i agree that access to clean water is very important for every people because it can prevent people from bad disease. However, charging for excessive consumption is a fair and practical solution that promotes conservation and supports the maintenance of water services.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument, though the development is somewhat uneven. While you clearly state your position, the essay falls slightly short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which impacts the overall task achievement score. The ideas regarding water conservation and the needs of low-income families are relevant, but they could be expanded with more depth to fully explore the implications of free water versus paid services. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, but ensure that all arguments are fully supported with detailed reasoning to reach the higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with' and 'On the other side' to transition between ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel disconnected due to repetitive phrasing. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus that transitions smoothly into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'excessive consumption' and 'public health'. However, there is a reliance on basic vocabulary (e.g., 'bad disease', 'use badly'), and some word choices are slightly unnatural or imprecise. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range of synonyms and using more sophisticated vocabulary related to social policy and economics would significantly enhance your lexical profile.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'the water is one of the basic necessity'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence fragments. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas. These errors do not usually impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding pluralization and article usage, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater precision.
