Student answer (Band 6.5)
The constitution of a country provided us with some basic human rights, one of them is access to clean water. Therefore, every household has a right to have water supply free of cost. I stand with this statement because it will lead to a better standard of living for people. This essay will discuss the positive impact of exercising our human rights.
One of the positive developments of having water free of cost in domestic households is, it helps people to raise their lifestyle by saving on water expenses. For example, research suggests that people are spending 40 percent of their earnings on either paying water bills, buying best water filters or purchasing clean water from markets.
Furthermore, market industries are benefiting by curtailing our basic human rights because it is an advantage for manufactures of water industry such as, water bottles Being sold in the market on different pretext like mineral based water, vitamin based or natural mountain water from Himalayas. Such industries are playing big marketing gimmick. Additionally, wealthier class in a society will automatically fall for an expensive product.
To conclude, the government of every country should provide basic clean water to its people free of cost. On the contrary, people should also put efforts while exercising their human rights, to avoid wasting an important natural resource of their country. A balance approach is required to have an effective use of human rights and needs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas regarding economic benefits and corporate exploitation are relevant, they are not fully developed. The conclusion introduces a new point about water conservation, which is slightly disconnected from the main argument about free supply. To reach a higher band, you need to expand on your points with more detailed examples and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'Additionally' to link sentences. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the connection between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. The final paragraph introduces a 'contrary' point that feels a bit abrupt given the previous stance. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph flows naturally into the next will help improve your score in this area.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'curtailing', 'pretext', and 'gimmick'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'market industries are benefiting' and 'wealthier class in a society will automatically fall for'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more academic phrasing rather than informal expressions like 'big marketing gimmick'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'The constitution... provided us' (should be 'provides'), 'one of them is' (comma splice), and 'manufactures of water industry' (should be 'manufacturers in the water industry'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
