Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern era, clean water is a basic need in human life. Where as providing of sufficient water should be free for each and every home. I strongly agree with this statement and validate my opinion.

To begin with, nowadays water is essential for a healthier life, there are many peoples suffering due to the lack of clean and fresh water for their daily uses such as bathing, washing cloths. Several individuals are depended on the the water sources, rivers and canals for water, but the water is polluted by many criteria in the society which makes unsuitable for drinking and house-hold uses. For example, many news have been reported that wastes from several factories are dumping to the water sources near them , which the water gets polluted and leads to unsuitable for use.

Furthermore, although there are various problems related to drinkable water, people lives in slum areas are relied on borewell and water from water company that are provided through water tanks. Government implemented multiple water sources for every houses such as pipe line and water tanks. For example, in India several magazines printed out that the number patients is being decreasing nowadays from various diseases like diarrhea ,jaundice. by the supplement of fresh water by government in may countries.

To conclude, access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charges. In my opinion, government should continue the providing of water supply to each and every house.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention pollution and health benefits, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the reference to 'many news' and 'magazines' is vague and does not effectively support the argument. To improve, you should focus on providing more detailed explanations of why water should be free, perhaps discussing the economic implications or the role of government responsibility in more detail. The conclusion restates the position, but the overall development remains at a basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude', which helps the flow. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the internal cohesion within paragraphs is occasionally weak. For example, the transition between the discussion of pollution and the mention of slum areas is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the phrase 'which the water gets polluted', which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help the essay flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'providing of sufficient water', 'many news have been reported', and 'by the supplement of fresh water'. These errors occasionally make the text feel unnatural. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate and grammatically accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include incorrect article usage ('the the water'), subject-verb agreement ('number patients is being decreasing'), and awkward sentence construction ('which makes unsuitable for drinking'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your sentence structure will significantly improve your score.
