Student answer (Band 5.5)
Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.

For ages, humans have been working hard to earn wealth to fulfil their basic needs like good quality of food, a better place to live and clean water for their daily consumption. Nowadays, filtered water is being provided by government in many countries and they usually take some amount for it in the form of monthly bills. However, filtered and clean water should be available to all the regions of world without any cost and I strong agree with the notion for some reasons.
Initially, clean water is a basic need for each human being because of its advantages for human health and its also used for household purposes like dish washing and for taking bath etc. However, drinling water is its main purpose because our body needs a specific amount of clean water each days but if we do not provide it, it will cause deseases in our body organs. For example, in recent research, clean water has been decleared a basic need for human organs specially for kidney which filter our blood but mostly its failure is causing by bad water.
Secondly, free supply of clean water can reduce the financial burden on a middle class family because in this period of inflation where our state applied taxes on everything and promised to provide basic facilities to the tax payers. So, they need to develope infrastructure to provide filtered water in remote areas as well. For instance, in developed countries, local authorities developed these systems in all the regions of their country where even poor can access clean water for free of cost.
In conclusion, I reach to this point that access to the clean water is a basic human need so the local governments should start implementing these systems without any cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water supply. The ideas are relevant, focusing on health benefits and financial relief for families. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding health is supported by a general example, but the claim about developed countries providing free water is a broad generalization that lacks specific evidence or nuance. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations of how the government would fund such a system, as this would demonstrate a more sophisticated engagement with the practical implications of your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Initially', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the sentence 'mostly its failure is causing by bad water', where the connection to the previous clause is weak. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words beyond simple sequence markers.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'consumption', 'inflation', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'I strong agree' (should be 'strongly agree'), 'causing by' (should be 'caused by'), and 'decleared' (spelling error). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your argument. To improve, focus on using collocations correctly and expanding your range of academic vocabulary to express complex ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and articles, such as 'provided by government' (missing 'the'), 'each days' (should be 'each day'), and 'the poor can access' (should be 'the poor can access... free of charge'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are slightly run-on. The errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points. Increasing the accuracy of your verb tenses and article usage will help elevate your score.
