Student answer (Band 5.5)
IF THER IS MAGICE ON THIS PLANET, IT IS CONTAINED IN WATER.
Providing purified water is the basic human right. Therefore, every house should get a free water supply. in this essay my disagreement will be discussed with the appropriate reasons including a relative example.
To commence with, water is the most essential part of everyone's life but providing it for free might cause some trouble. first of all, the maintenance of the water supply tank will be difficult as the source of income is gone. secondly, if the water supply is free the usage of water will be more, as the public will be careless and in future it might cause a water shortage. The government will be under pressure for giving access of water without any charges and the economic will face a dip eventually making the market more expensive in the future.
However, there are few ways of handling this situation. government can issue a proper law for water supply such as, water meter so that the exact quantity of water can be figured out and according to that amount is paid. For countryside areas a minimum vaguer should be given. Fore an instance, the majority of states in India have a dedicated law for water usage so that in future then do not suffer from a shortage.
To conclude it, water plays an important role in everyone's life but providing it for free might create some issues. So, it's better to make it cheaper rather than making it completely free which will help in maintaining the storage and the supply chain of the water system.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against free water supply. The ideas are relevant, focusing on maintenance costs and the risk of wastage. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention the economic impact and the need for meters, these points could be expanded with more detailed reasoning or specific consequences. The introduction is a bit informal with the opening quote, and the conclusion is brief. To improve, ensure each body paragraph fully explores the 'why' behind your arguments to provide a more comprehensive discussion that meets the requirements for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'first of all', and 'secondly' to link your points. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'For countryside areas a minimum vaguer should be given', where the connection to the previous argument is weak. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'water supply', 'maintenance', and 'shortage'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'economic will face a dip' (should be 'economy') and 'minimum vaguer' (likely meant 'wage' or 'allowance'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Focusing on collocations and using more precise academic terminology would significantly improve your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the economic', 'the water supply tank'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation (e.g., 'in this essay my disagreement...'). Capitalization errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters, also occur. These errors do not typically impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent use of capitalization and punctuation.
