Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, access to clean water is a human legal right. Therefore, water should be supplied to each household at no cost. To a large extent, I agree with this statement and will discuss my viewpoints in the following paragraphs.
To commence with, water services should be provided to every household at no cost. First of all, due to the rapid increases in inflation, the middle class and poor families cannot afford so many bills because nowadays, everything such as petrol, groceries, and electricity units are increasing day by day. Moreover, there are some regional areas where the masses have to buy drinking water bottles because their household water supply is not clean, through which they have to spend their hard-earned money on water bottles like Bisleri and Kinley. After that, people also suffer from some major issues related to their health, like infections in the stomach. For example, a survey was conducted in the USA which showed that the masses were healthier who drank clean water than those who drank dirty water in 2005.
However, some people will misuse this free water supply scheme because they will waste a huge amount of water on some silly things like gardening, dishwashing and car washing, because even now they waste too much water on these kinds of things. If the authority charges more for water supply, individuals will not waste water on such things.
To conclude, water is essential for survival it should be provided without any charges to each household, so people can save some amount of money and spend on other daily expenses.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position. You have provided relevant reasons, such as the economic burden on families and health implications. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The counter-argument regarding water wastage is introduced but not fully integrated into your overall argument, and the conclusion is a bit abrupt. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more nuanced analysis rather than listing examples. The mention of 'Bisleri and Kinley' is a bit informal for an academic essay; it is better to refer to 'bottled water brands' generally.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical or repetitive. For instance, 'After that' is not the most natural way to transition between points in an academic context. Additionally, the link between the health survey example and the main argument could be smoother. Improving the variety of your linking phrases will help the flow of your writing feel more natural and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'inflation', 'essential for survival', and 'misuse'. However, there are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'silly things' when referring to water wastage, which is too informal. You also rely on some repetitive phrasing. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid colloquialisms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more topic-specific terminology related to public policy or economics would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'the masses were healthier who drank clean water' (which should be 'the masses who drank clean water were healthier') and 'water is essential for survival it should be provided' (a run-on sentence requiring a conjunction or semicolon). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are punctuated correctly will help you achieve a higher band.
