Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument, though the position is somewhat inconsistent. In the introduction, you state you 'partly agree', but the conclusion states you 'completely agree', which creates confusion regarding your stance. While you provide relevant ideas such as public health benefits and the risk of water wastage, the development is occasionally repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument about water treatment costs is mentioned but not fully explored in relation to the 'free of charge' proposal. To improve, ensure your position is clearly maintained throughout the essay and provide more specific, logical links between your examples and your main arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To embark with' and 'In liue of' are used incorrectly, which disrupts the flow of ideas. Additionally, some sentences are poorly connected, such as the transition between the discussion of water wastage and the government's role. While there is a logical progression from the benefits of free water to the potential drawbacks, the lack of precise linking words makes the argument feel disjointed at times. Improving your range of transition signals will significantly enhance the readability of your work.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and contains frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'indispensibly', 'statment', 'expamsive', and 'cloean'. These errors occasionally make the text difficult to follow. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations, such as 'effect any diseases' instead of 'contract any diseases'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'sanitisation' and 'water systems', the overall control is weak. To reach a higher band, focus on learning the correct spelling of common words and practicing collocations in context to ensure your meaning is conveyed accurately and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a limited range of grammatical structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are frequently marred by errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, and word order. For example, 'It believed that' is missing a passive auxiliary, and 'they can drink clean water becuase it reduces infection' shows a lack of control over tense and clause structure. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. The majority of sentences contain errors, which occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips will help improve your accuracy.
