Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the provision of free water. However, the position is inconsistent; you state you 'partly agree' in the introduction, but then conclude by saying you 'completely agree', which contradicts your earlier points about the economic burden and potential for waste. While you provide reasons for both sides, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. To improve, ensure your stance is clearly maintained throughout the essay and that your conclusion aligns with your introduction and body paragraphs. The ideas regarding government responsibility and water conservation are relevant but could be better structured to support a single, coherent argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To embark with' (an incorrect collocation) and 'Notwetsnading' (a misspelling). Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. For example, the transition between the benefits of clean water and the economic challenges of water treatment lacks a smooth logical bridge. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that progresses the argument logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'counsumption', 'indispensibly', 'expamsive', and 'cloean'. Some phrases are used incorrectly, such as 'cannot effect any diseases', where 'avoid' or 'prevent' would be more appropriate. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'sanitisation' and 'water treatment', the overall range is restricted, and the persistent spelling errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Expanding your vocabulary through reading and focusing on accurate word forms will help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as 'It believed that' (missing the passive auxiliary 'is') and 'they have responsibly to use' (incorrect word form). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with many missing spaces after commas and periods. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are frequent areas of error. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing verbs and incorrect word forms before attempting more complex structures.
