Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today’s world, water consumption has significantly risen due to misuse of water. Accessing clean water is basic need to survive in daily life for humans. Therefore, the government should provide free of charge. I strongly disagree with the given statement.
From one perspective, humans need clean water to stay alive in day-to-day life. Because, water is used in every situation in everyday life like, from drinking to use for daily routine. If clean water was not provided by authorities, it can affect individual’s health. For this reason, government should provide free of charge crystal clear water to society. It directly affects economic growth of nation. For instance, those people who came from poor background they all are not financially stable. They cannot pay charges for access clear water to the administration.
Oppositely, government taking charges from peoples are beneficial for nation’s growth. In present time peoples use clear water more than required. Therefore, poor individuals do not receive required amount of water, and they all cannot survive without clear or drinking water. That’s the reason government should take some basic charges from society. And also do some activity to save water. It also helps nation’s growth. For example, authorities took low charges for access clean water, poor people also can afford the clean water and those who financially stable they used only required amount of water.
In my opinion, it is beneficial to take some fee for accessing clean water for society and country. It helps to maintain health of individuals those who came lower category. Moreover, government should develop system for recycling the wastage water.
In conclusion, water is playing crucial role in people’s lives. If it is provided free of charge, peoples will use more than required. It affects directly to individual’s lives. So, the administration should take action or introduce new policy against the problem. They should take low charges and also, develop recycling methods to save water.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, arguing against free water supply in favor of a fee-based system to encourage conservation. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument that free water leads to waste is mentioned in both the third and fifth paragraphs without significant extension. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments could be more nuanced. The introduction is slightly contradictory, as you state 'I strongly disagree' with the idea that water should be free, but your initial sentences seem to support the necessity of water. Ensure your thesis statement clearly aligns with your arguments to avoid confusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'For instance,' 'Oppositely,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as starting a paragraph with 'Oppositely.' Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'they all' or 'those who' without a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'consumption,' 'administration,' and 'financially stable.' However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'crystal clear water' (which is informal) and 'wastage water' (should be 'wastewater'). You also repeat basic words like 'people' and 'water' frequently. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive vocabulary. Expanding your range to include more academic synonyms will help convey your ideas with greater sophistication and clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the government,' 'a basic need'), subject-verb agreement ('peoples use,' 'those who financially stable they used'), and sentence fragments ('Because, water is used...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas appearing in several places. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms.
