Student answer (Band 5.5)
Able to get clean and pure water is the fundamental right of a human. So it is believed that water should be supplied without any cost to every household. I fully disagree to this opinion because people will consume more water if it is not charged a single penny and another benefit is to country's economy by implementing water charge to the society.
People now-a-days waste huge amount of water without a single thought that in many villages the problem with water scarcity has still not been resolved. And if the charges for water consumption is removed then those type of people who does not think about the others in the society will get a free hand to use more water. Moreover, the negligence of some people keeping the knob of tap water open will rise to any limit. By this the needful person who know the importance will not able to use the water properly. A study was conducted by Michigan University where 45% of people in that area face water crisis due to the people who showed negligence in closing knob of tap water or left the knob open when not using it.
Secondly, it will help in boosting the economy of a country and will increase the flow of revenue. If Government will impose adequate amount of water usage tax on citizens then people will be more vigilant while using the water and indirectly those taxes which are collected from them will provide revenue to many individuals working in water department. Additionally, people will tend to save water more without knowing it. For instance, a survey conducted by a college showed that people who are paying water taxes are using water in limits and unknowingly saving it for future use.
In conclusion, implications of water charges will not only help more people to consume less water but also provide a helping hand to increase country's economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding water conservation and economic revenue are relevant and logically extended. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, and the reliance on specific examples (like the Michigan University study) feels slightly forced or generic. To reach a higher band, ensure that the supporting ideas are more nuanced and avoid over-generalising about human behavior. The conclusion effectively summarises the main points, ensuring the task requirements are fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Secondly', and 'Additionally' are used to link ideas, though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but there are instances where the referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'those type of people'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure supports the reader's understanding of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'fundamental right', 'water scarcity', and 'vigilant'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'rise to any limit' instead of 'increase significantly' or 'without knowing it' when you likely meant 'unconsciously'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding your use of topic-specific collocations would improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('those type of people who does not think') and awkward phrasing ('Able to get clean and pure water is the fundamental right'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are clunky. To improve, focus on mastering complex sentence forms and proofreading for basic agreement and article usage errors, which currently occur throughout the text.
