Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argue by many people, access to pure water is a fundamental human right. Therefore, every residence should have a water supply provided free of charge. I completely agree this view because it is basic human need to access safe and clean water.
Firstly, clean water is necessary for a healthy life. People need water for drinking, cooking, washing and maintaining hygine. If poor families cannot afford water, they may use unsafe sources, while can cause seriour diseases. for example, in some rural areas, people may depend on rivers or untreated wells when they do not have access to a reliable water supply. Therefore, governments should ensure that every family can obtain a basic amount of safe water without paying.
However, If people do not have to pay anything, some may lever taps running or use excessive amounts of water. This could put pressure on limited water resources. A better solution would therefore be to provide a basic quantity free and charge users for excessive cconsumption.
In conclusion, I stongly agree that every household should receive a basic supply of clean water free of charge because it is essential for health and equality.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing relevant arguments. However, the essay is significantly under-length at 195 words, which prevents the full development of ideas required for a higher band. While the main points regarding health and resource management are relevant, they are not extended sufficiently to meet the 250-word requirement. The conclusion is brief, and the overall development lacks the depth expected for an academic task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and the progression of ideas is generally clear. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'However', and 'In conclusion' are used to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the phrase 'while can cause seriour diseases', where the relative pronoun 'which' is missing, disrupting the flow of the sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. There are several spelling errors, such as 'hygine' (hygiene), 'seriour' (serious), and 'stongly' (strongly). The word choice is generally functional, but there is little attempt to use less common or more sophisticated lexical items. The phrase 'lever taps running' is also an incorrect collocation for 'leave taps running'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'It is often argue' instead of 'It is often argued'. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters after periods (e.g., 'for example'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and mechanics limit the score.
