Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating an agreement with the idea that water should be free. The ideas are relevant, focusing on public health and government responsibility. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'typhoid' and 'nimoniya' (pneumonia) is a good start but lacks depth. The comparison to air and sunlight is a strong point, but the overall development remains basic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the economic implications for the government or the societal benefits of universal water access with more sophisticated reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'The most important', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is repetitive. For example, the transition 'Additionally' is used multiple times in close proximity. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'which may leads to there health issues', where the connection to the previous clause is slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors, such as 'nimoniya' (pneumonia) and 'there' instead of 'their'. Collocations are often awkward, such as 'make a burdened' and 'used unclear water'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited to basic terms. To improve, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms and spelling, as these errors occasionally distract the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('it can causes', 'that may forces to citizens') and incorrect article usage ('in free of cost'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve accuracy.
