Student answer (Band 5.0)
Access to clean water is a basic human right and basic need, while some people argue that every house should not be charge for the water supply. I partially support that because clean water is basic need but providing this may lead to the wastage of water and over burden for Government.
Although, clean water is an basic need in day to day life for cooking, bathing and drinking clean water prevent the water borne diseases for example many households who cannot afford the clean water are suffering from an water born diseases by providing them clean water these problems could be solved.
On the other hand by supplying clean water for free could lead to wastage of clean water like man families would start overusing the clean water in gardens , washing clothes , cleaning cars and more. More over supplying clean water could create burden on Government to keep the supply of clean water , maintenance of the structure to keep providing clean water.
On conclusion, I believe that the clean water should be supplied for free as people should be charged for the overconsumption of the water

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you present a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The conclusion is also somewhat contradictory to the body paragraphs, as it suggests free supply while simultaneously mentioning charges for overconsumption. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure your position remains consistent throughout the essay. The current length prevents a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'On the other hand', 'More over'). The logical progression between ideas is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, making the flow feel disjointed. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea that transitions smoothly into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'over burden for Government' and 'an water born diseases'. You rely on simple, repetitive vocabulary throughout the text. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'infrastructure', 'sustainability', 'subsidized', or 'resource management', and pay closer attention to article usage and pluralization.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include incorrect article usage ('an basic need', 'an water born diseases'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure errors. There is a limited range of complex sentence structures, and the ones attempted often contain errors. For example, the opening sentence is a run-on that lacks proper punctuation. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and the proper use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
