Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water is the essential element of life. Clean water should be reachable to each house without any cost as it right of every human being. I strongly agree with the statement due to rise in industrilization water pollution is rising with each coming day and water is as important as food for survival. In this essay I will discuss about the importance and will draw a conclusion from my statements.

Now a days, as the population is increasing day by day the needs for living are also rising due to which industrialization has increased to meet the needs of people. For instance, due to ever increasing demands for food and other things factories are producing a lot of waste materials these waste products are discharged into water bodies which not only pollute the water with deadly chemicals but also increases the risk of death in living organisms especially fishes which are used by humans as a source of food.

Moreover, the polluted water contains toxic elements which not only harm living organisms inwater bodies but they are used for drinking and other purposes by humans. For example, the polluted water causes many disease like hepatitis which in chronic stage is deadluy. Hence, the government and other organizations hould work to provide clean water every individual.

In conslusion, clean water is the basic need of every human and it is the basic right of every human to have access to clean water. Hence, every single home should have approach to water supply without any cost to the individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention industrialization and health risks, the argument regarding the economic feasibility or the 'human right' aspect is not fully explored. The essay relies on general statements rather than providing a nuanced discussion of the implications of providing water free of charge. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your reasoning, perhaps by discussing the role of government subsidies or the potential impact on water conservation, ensuring that all parts of the prompt are explored with greater depth and analytical rigor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the connection between the problem (industrialization) and the proposed solution (free water) could be more tightly integrated to improve the overall progression of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'industrialization', 'toxic elements', and 'chronic stage'. However, there are several spelling errors ('industrilization', 'deadluy', 'conslusion') and some awkward phrasing, such as 'reachable to each house' instead of 'accessible to every household'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you proofread for spelling accuracy, as these minor errors prevent the vocabulary from being considered a 'wide range' used with flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' missing before 'water', 'the' missing before 'fishes') and subject-verb agreement ('these waste products... increases'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences that lack necessary commas or conjunctions. To achieve a higher score, you need to increase the frequency of error-free sentences and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules, such as pluralization and the correct use of articles.
