Student answer (Band 6.0)

Augmenting the trend of using filter water has revolutionised the world in astounding ways which has added the flavour of comfort in our life-journey. Certainly, to drink clean water is essential for human survival and well-being. However, the significance of providing free water to every home is indeed to dire to ignore. In this essay, I shall put my forth arguments before drawing relevant conclusion.

First and foremost, safe drinking water is a indispensable human necessity, and guaranteeing it without financial barriers directly safeguards public health. When households are forced to pay for clean water, impoverished families may resort to using unsafe, contaminated sources, leading to waterborne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and typhoid. The medical and economic burden placed on government healthcare systems to treat these preventable illnesses far outweighs the cost of supplying clean tap water. By offering clean water free of charge, governments can substantially reduce healthcare expenses and ensure a healthier, more productive populace.

Furthermore, providing free water is a powerful tool for social equity and poverty alleviation. Low-income families often spend a disproportionate share of their earnings on basic utilities, which limits their ability to afford education, nutritious food, and adequate housing. Eliminating water bills for residential areas relieves financial strain on vulnerable populations and narrows the inequality gap. While critics often contend that free water leads to wastage and reckless consumption, this issue can easily be managed through progressive metering policies—where a baseline amount of clean water required for daily living is free, while consumption exceeding this threshold incurs a fee.

Compiling all the thoughts discuss above. I pen down saying that despite noting down the pros of supplying free water to every home, the pros of drinking filter water is basic need of human being has adopt the driver seat. Hence, the water is necessity of human life

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt well, maintaining a clear position in favor of providing free water. The arguments regarding public health and social equity are logically developed and supported with relevant reasoning. However, the conclusion is problematic; it is grammatically fragmented and fails to clearly summarize the main arguments, instead introducing confusing phrasing like 'the pros of drinking filter water is basic need'. To reach a higher band, ensure the conclusion directly reflects the arguments presented in the body paragraphs and maintains a consistent, formal tone throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Furthermore', and 'While critics often contend' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, the final paragraph is poorly constructed. The sentence 'Compiling all the thoughts discuss above' is grammatically awkward, and the transition into the final summary is disjointed. Improving the flow between the final body paragraph and the conclusion would enhance the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally appropriate for an academic essay, with terms like 'impoverished families', 'waterborne diseases', and 'progressive metering policies' demonstrating a good range. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'added the flavour of comfort in our life-journey' and 'put my forth arguments'. The phrase 'is indeed to dire to ignore' contains a spelling error ('too' instead of 'to'). While the range is sufficient to convey complex ideas, more precision and fewer stylistic errors would elevate the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'a indispensable' (should be 'an'), 'thoughts discuss above' (should be 'discussed'), and the sentence fragment 'Compiling all the thoughts discuss above. I pen down saying that...'. Additionally, the final sentence is confusing and lacks grammatical control. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and sentence completion in the final paragraph is essential.
