Student answer (Band 5.0)

Water is essential for our life. Everyone believe that government must provide the clean water to every citizen because it is the basic need of human and it is totally free for everyone. I totally agree with this statement clean water is basic need and important for health.

Firstly, Water is the fundamental requirement for everyone and we use it in our daily lives like when we make food, wash the clothes and we also required water for bath and everyone not buy it for these purposes therefore, establishment must provide the free water to citizen. For example in most of the develop countries who provide free basic facilities to their public especially clean water and people used it in our daily lives task.

secondly, water is the source who improve or damage our health therefore, it is vital for our well-being, especially in summer when our body need more water. clean water safe our body from different diseases, it clean our body from germs and dehydration to our body, and dirty water can damage our body. for instance, in Sindh, Pakistan thousand of people die due to drink dirty water because due to natural disaster they have no clean water and they can travel for water and most of the time they drink rain water and it effects their health.

In conclusion, Government must provide free water to public so they can used it in their daily lives task like to makes food and also drinking clean water must improve citizens health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you provide reasons such as health and daily necessity, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the example regarding Sindh, Pakistan, is relevant but could be better integrated to explain why government-funded, free-of-charge systems are the specific solution to such crises. To improve, aim to explore the economic or social implications of 'free' water more thoroughly, perhaps by discussing the balance between public rights and government budget constraints, which would provide a more balanced and sophisticated response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'the source who improve or damage our health', where the pronoun 'who' is used incorrectly for an inanimate object. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns and conjunctions connect ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive terms like 'basic need', 'clean water', and 'daily lives'. There are also instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'establishment' instead of 'government' or 'authorities', and 'develop countries' instead of 'developed countries'. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition. For example, instead of repeating 'clean water', you could use 'potable water', 'safe drinking water', or 'hygienic water supplies'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Everyone believe', 'body need'), article usage ('the clean water'), and incorrect verb forms ('they can used it'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb tenses throughout your writing.
