Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. While you mention the importance of water for health and the role of government, the arguments are presented in a simplified manner. For example, the suggestion to increase taxes on fuel to subsidize water is a relevant point, but it is not fully explored. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced explanations and perhaps consider counter-arguments or broader societal implications to extend your ideas more thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical. You rely heavily on simple transitions like 'So' and 'Now', and some sentences are fragmented, such as 'An in order to get those.' The use of cohesive devices is often repetitive, and the logical flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast'). Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs needs more sophisticated linking to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You frequently repeat basic terms like 'clean water,' 'free of cost,' and 'basic.' There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'provided with the free cost' (should be 'provided free of charge') and 'uncleaned water' (should be 'untreated' or 'contaminated'). While the meaning is clear, the lack of a wider range of academic vocabulary limits the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations related to public policy and health.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include incorrect article usage ('The clean water is the basic human right'), subject-verb agreement ('it play's vital role'), and punctuation errors (unnecessary apostrophes). Additionally, some sentences are grammatically incomplete or awkward, such as 'Later on it could be vulnerable to treat the population.' While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score.
