Student answer (Band 6.0)

Unanimously, in the period of globalization, many people are starving for the basic necessities of life, like food, electricity clean drinking water. This has been the prominent topic of discussion amongst people. Well, in my opinion, I strongly agree with this given notion that people should be given water for free and the supporting towards my view will be discussed in further paragraphs with a suitable conclusion.

Firstly, supporting my agreement to the given statement, I firmly have a belief that fresh drinking water is needed by all the species for their survival. Additionally, another aspect which propels my view is that without fresh drinking water people could die out of dehydration. For instance, Many African countries do not have the access to clean drinking water and the people are barely surviving there.

Secondly, another supporting aspect favoring this statement is, there is no paradox that it is a basic human right and government is bound to provide it for free to the citizen of their respective countries without imposing any charges or taxes as the country flourishes only when the people living in that nation are happy and growing. Without free access to water, it would be like going back to the drawing board situation. To exemplify, During the natural calamities, other nations do provide basic amenities like food and water without charging a penny.

In conclusion, I pen down highlighting that the aforementioned given pointers heavily support my sense of belief regarding the access to clean drinking water for free, which are worthy enough to strongly support my view point. To make it more effective, a joint effort is needed by the government and the citizens of the country by not wasting a drop.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that water is a basic human right and cite the example of natural calamities, the argument lacks depth regarding the economic or logistical implications of providing free water to all homes. The points are relevant but could be extended further to reach a higher band. For instance, you could have discussed the potential for waste or the burden on government budgets to provide a more balanced perspective. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and focuses more on conservation than the core argument of free supply.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'I pen down highlighting that'. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear; for example, 'the supporting towards my view' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid rather than relying on simple list-like structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'globalization', 'dehydration', and 'natural calamities'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'starving for the basic necessities' (starving usually refers to food) and 'going back to the drawing board situation', which is used incorrectly here. Some expressions are also slightly informal or redundant, such as 'I firmly have a belief'. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive or overly wordy phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'electricity clean drinking water' (missing conjunction), 'supporting towards my view', and 'government is bound to provide it... to the citizen' (should be plural 'citizens'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor errors in article usage and subject-verb agreement. The complexity of your sentences is limited, and the errors that do occur are noticeable, though they do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points.
