Student answer (Band 5.0)
Clean water is the most essential and fundamental right of humans. Every household should have a clean water deliver, that is free of cost.
Most of the people still can not have clean water supply in their houses even in this modern era. Clean water is a fundamental necessity of every human because if people can not have clean water then it is harmful for them. Contaminated water contains harmful chemicals and life threatening diseases. Many government of the countries are even charge for the clean water which is not focusing that people need it, free of cost. After all this the basic necessity of all the humankind.
On the other hand, many government of different countries are still providing clean water in every households for free of charge. They made polices, current and future plans that every household gets the fresh non-contaminated water. In Africa, their citizens still struggling to get fresh water and not even a proper water supply chain as well. I am totally agree that clean water is a fundamental right of every human in this world and it should be free or cost because it is hard to survive without clean water.
In conclusion, It is very important that humans get fresh clean water it is the fundamental right of citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 216 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the writer argues that water should be free, the supporting arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the mention of Africa is a good start but is not sufficiently expanded to support the argument effectively. The conclusion is also very brief and does not adequately summarise the main points. To improve, the writer needs to provide more detailed examples and extend their reasoning to meet the length requirement and fully develop their position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or misused, such as the phrase 'After all this' which does not logically connect the preceding sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between paragraphs could be smoother. The use of linking words is limited, and the overall flow is hindered by the lack of sophisticated cohesive devices that would help connect ideas more naturally across the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'water deliver' instead of 'water supply' and 'many government of the countries are even charge' which is grammatically and lexically incorrect. The student relies on simple, repetitive vocabulary like 'fundamental' and 'clean water'. To achieve a higher score, the student should focus on using more varied and precise collocations and avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Most of the people still can not have clean water supply' (incorrect article/word order) and 'I am totally agree' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading and mastering basic sentence patterns is necessary.
