Student answer (Band 5.5)

Providing safe and pure water is a fundamental human right. In order to maintain and provide basic rights to everyone, water supply should be free of cost. I am fully agreed to this statement and the reason behind it is discussed in the following paragraphs.

Water supply should be free. It is because free and clean water helps to promote public health. Health is directly related with sanitation and our habits. Therefore, to maintain health and to be physically fit water play important role in human life. For example, Poor people who cannot afford to pay money for basic needs they need to get those elements in free. Similarly, under developing countries with low employment opportunities are facing problems. So, that need to be tackle by providing water free of cost.

Another reason behind free and pure water supply is that it decrease water borne diseases in our society. people are highly suffering from diseases like jaundice, typhoid and so on. For instances, large number of records of people are found in hospital who is not well because of water borne diseases. Not only this, impurified and poor water quality also could results into sanitation problems.

To conclude, the basic rights of human integrates pure water and to provide fundamental right it should be complimentary to everyone. In my opinion, water should be free of cost because pure water promote healthy life style and impure water could leads to the numerous water borne diseases. Hence, I totally agree with this statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention public health and disease prevention, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'poor people' is mentioned but not expanded upon with specific economic or social reasoning. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced arguments, perhaps considering the economic feasibility or the role of government infrastructure, rather than simply restating that water is a right. The ideas are relevant but remain at a surface level, which limits the overall impact of your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'Similarly' and 'To conclude', but the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. Some transitions feel forced, such as 'Not only this, impurified and poor water quality also could results into sanitation problems.' Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear; for example, 'that need to be tackle' lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'free of cost' repeatedly. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'impurified' (which is not standard English; 'contaminated' or 'impure' would be better) and 'complimentary' (which usually refers to a gift, whereas 'free of charge' is more appropriate for a service). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to public policy, economics, and health.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('water play important role', 'could results into'), incorrect verb forms ('people are highly suffering'), and awkward phrasing ('large number of records of people are found in hospital who is not well'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your verb tenses are consistent throughout the essay.
