Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that supply of clean water should be provided to homes at no cost. I completely agree with this statement because clean water is the ultimate need of every living being. Without water, life cannot survive. The primary reason why I support this view because without clean water we cant survive properly . By drinking polluted water, people will get sick and cause of multiple diseases due to pathogenic microorganisms and toxic pollutants. People can not take bath, wash clothes and dishes without water. Life will be stop. Furthermore, if the clean water is not provided. People will spent majority of the time of day in fetching water from lakes an river. It require a lot of effort and wastage of time. If the unpolluted water is given. A lot of time and effort which was used in gathering water and then spent hours in cleaning it will saved. Now this time will be used wisely in doing work that benefits other, state and himself also. It can be served in making inventions, making like of humans much easier, serving in country's protection and many more. Consequently, people are already paying for many things like electricity, gas, fuel and many more things through tax. So clean water is should be supplied to homes at no cost. In conclusion, I strongly agree that by giving pure water to individuals home will benefits to all country because it not only about to facilitate citizens. Its about saving people ample of time, reduces workload and getting rid of number of diseases.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on health benefits and the economic impact of time saved. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'inventions' and 'country's protection' is a bit speculative and lacks concrete supporting evidence or logical depth. While the response covers all parts of the task, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, reinforcing the student's stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing. For example, the transition between the health benefits and the economic benefits could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the internal structure of some sentences makes the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed at times. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the logical progression is sufficient.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. The student relies on basic terms like 'clean water', 'sick', and 'work'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'pathogenic microorganisms' and 'toxic pollutants', which are used correctly. However, there are also instances of awkward word choices and minor errors, such as 'Life will be stop' instead of 'Life would cease' and 'individuals home' instead of 'individual homes'. The range is sufficient to convey the message, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or sophistication needed for a band 7.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and article usage (e.g., 'if the clean water is not provided', 'clean water is should be supplied'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are persistent and occur throughout the text. The punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels repetitive or grammatically incomplete. To improve, the student should focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and ensuring subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
