Student answer (Band 6.0)

Water is very pivotal part of humans life well-being. There is a plethora amount of water in the world but humans require clean water for their healthy life. Thus, it is a basic right of public to obtain clean water supply without any charges or taxes to be paid. I firmly agree with the statement and will discuss about the factors in detailed with elucidating along with relevant examples in the following paragraphs.

The major reason of clean water facilitation without any charge is that affordability. To explain, in the world there is vast number of proportion of population who are not having a stable financial income due which they start to compromise with water and eventually it leads to several health problems such as infection, cancer and many other serious issues. Additionally, there are countable slum areas where people are struggling with the water crises and consequently fight with each other or lost their life because of the consumption of harmful water. Thus, clean water is must for every individual and should be charge free to each and every area of the nation.

Considering another perspective is that providing clean amount of water with limited amount to people will increase the value of it. To Elaborate, government should provide free clean water with a amount and time limit to public so they acquire the habit of saving water and utilize it in appropriate way. For example, recently government had scheduled the time for suppling clean water to the citizens and they use to store water for their use by which they use the water in limited work or else public will overuse the clean water. Hence, limited amount and time will give greater impact on saving clean water and will be convenient to the public.

In conclusion, clean water should be provide free of cost to all the citizen as there is affordability issues and thus it will improve health conditions of public who are staying in slum area specifically. Along with it authorities should supply limited amount of water a time period for saving water and regularize the habit in public to save water and not to over use it .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing reasons for it. The first body paragraph effectively discusses the link between affordability and health. However, the second body paragraph is somewhat contradictory; while it attempts to support the idea of free water, it focuses heavily on government-imposed limits and rationing, which slightly weakens the argument for 'free' access. The ideas are generally relevant, but the development could be more nuanced to fully explore the complexities of the issue. The conclusion restates the position clearly, though it introduces the idea of 'regularizing habits' which was not fully explored in the main body.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used throughout, such as 'Additionally', 'To elaborate', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Considering another perspective is that...'. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'use the water in limited work' in the second body paragraph, which makes the logical progression slightly difficult to follow. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the progression of ideas is generally clear.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use more sophisticated terms like 'pivotal', 'plethora', and 'elucidating'. However, there are several instances of awkward collocation and word choice errors, such as 'plethora amount of water' (redundant), 'clean water facilitation' (unnatural), and 'charge free' (should be 'free of charge'). While the meaning is always clear, these inaccuracies prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended message but lacks the precision and natural control required for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a basic right of public', 'the world there is vast number of proportion'), subject-verb agreement ('clean water should be provide'), and preposition usage. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. The student demonstrates an attempt at complex structures, but the control over these is inconsistent. To improve, the student should focus on article usage and ensuring that verbs are correctly conjugated in passive constructions.
