Student answer (Band 6.0)
Water is an essential source of energy to survive on the earth. Every human should have an easy availability of clean water, but there is an absolute conflict of belief whether water supply should be provided free of cost to each household. According to my opinion, I agree on the fact of an easy access to clean water but whether it should be supplied free of cost would their own hidden benefits and drawbacks.
In a modern era, several technologies are driven fundamentally by water. Large-scale industries consume water for their high yield of profit and dispose polluted water directly into the natural water bodies for example, river, lake and seas. As a result, sources of clean water are contaminated which raise a problem against an easy access of clean water for local household. For instance, having an access to clean water is a basic human right but it depends on how vigilantly clean water is being consumed by citizens. People may take an easy access for granted and would not consider their responsibility to maintain the quality of water. For example, already polluted rivers would end up being a dump yard of human wastes.
Furthermore, if water supply is provided free of charge, it can be fruitful for lower class people who cannot afford water filter in their households but on other hand, middle or high class society may consider it as a free license to misuse an easily available clean water due to lack of awareness.
In conclusion, I strongly agree to have an easy accessibility of water as a human right. Nevertheless, the basic enlightenment among citizen is mandatory for vigilant use of an essential source of energy before providing water supply free of cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the human right to water and the implications of providing it free of charge. However, the position is somewhat ambivalent. While you state you agree with the right to access, you do not clearly argue for or against the 'free of charge' aspect, instead listing potential benefits and drawbacks. To reach a higher band, you should take a clearer stance and develop your arguments more fully. For instance, the point about industrial pollution is relevant but could be more directly linked to the economic argument of who should pay for water infrastructure. The conclusion remains neutral rather than reinforcing a clear, consistent position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs. There is a progression of ideas from the general right to water to the specific economic implications. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In conclusion', and 'As a result', which help the flow. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'whether it should be supplied free of cost would their own hidden benefits'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall cohesion of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'essential source', 'contaminated', and 'vigilantly'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural collocations, such as 'basic enlightenment among citizen' (should be 'public awareness') and 'easy availability of clean water'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word choice, such as 'energy' to describe water, which is scientifically inaccurate in this context. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your vocabulary choices are contextually appropriate for a formal essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('an easy access', 'the natural water bodies') and subject-verb agreement ('whether it should be supplied... would their own'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'there is an absolute conflict of belief whether water supply should be provided'. To achieve a higher band, you need to increase the frequency of error-free sentences and pay closer attention to article usage and prepositional phrases, which are currently causing minor but persistent inaccuracies.
