Student answer (Band 5.5)
As we know that access to clean water is a basic human need so in this essay we will discuss weather every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge or not?
I agree with this because yes clean water is a basic human need that play an important role in human health because water is something that every organ of our body need because no human can survive 3 to 4 days without water. The water is provided to every organ which they need for proper functioning, for example if we don't drink enough water it causes pain in our kidneys, and cause serious health problems like diarrhea, typhoid bloating issues, cancer and multiple skin problems because unfiltered water contains different type of viruses and bacteria.
I agree with this that every home should be provided with clean water free of charge because there are many people who are not financially stable. They don't have enough money to buy water. So they get water from different river which is unfiltered and cause serious health problems. Our government should remain substantial in providing clean water to undeveloped areas. For example If government should not focus on clean water system it will deteriorate health problems in undeveloped areas like bloating issues in babies and everyone.
Therefore every home must be provided with water free of charge so everyone must stay healthy and everyone have access to clean water for the rest of their life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water access. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the argument. While the ideas regarding health and financial stability are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack sufficient development or specific, real-world examples. The essay would benefit from exploring the economic implications of 'free' water or the role of infrastructure, rather than focusing primarily on the biological necessity of water. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the points made.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often mechanical or missing, such as the repetitive use of 'I agree with this' and 'everyone'. While the reader can follow the general argument, the lack of varied linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') makes the flow feel simplistic. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear topic sentence followed by supporting evidence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is significant repetition of basic terms like 'water', 'need', 'health', and 'problems'. Some collocations are awkward, such as 'deteriorate health problems' and 'remain substantial in providing'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'unfiltered', 'viruses', and 'bacteria', the overall lexical range is limited, and the phrasing often feels informal or imprecise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they often contain errors in subject-verb agreement and punctuation (e.g., 'water is something that every organ of our body need'). There are frequent grammatical slips, such as 'if government should not focus' and 'everyone have access'. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. The range of structures is limited, and the errors are frequent enough to occasionally distract the reader, though they do not completely impede communication.
