Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against free water. However, the essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 237 words. This under-length significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the main arguments regarding water conservation and government costs are relevant, they are underdeveloped and lack depth. The conclusion is somewhat repetitive and lacks a strong summary of the main points. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and specific examples to ensure you meet the length requirement and fully explore the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To embark on' (incorrect usage) and 'huge accord of thoughts'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the transition between the second and third paragraphs. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is hindered by awkward phrasing. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words correctly and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'give the water charges free', 'water line pine', and 'huge accord of thoughts'. Some basic vocabulary is used correctly, but there is a lack of precision and a limited range of academic vocabulary. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to the topic, such as 'subsidized', 'infrastructure', 'conservation', or 'financial burden', and work on improving your collocation skills to sound more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everyone should able to be get'), article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'if government should not take charge... people do not worried'). The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and run-on sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, verb tenses, and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound.
