Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this essay we explains the access of water to the public free of course because this is including in basic human right.

Therefore, we explain in our words. I am agree with this that the clean water is essential need of every person or this is a basic human right. There is 97% of water on the earth but this all is not clean. About little amount of water is good for drinking or other uses. But currently the ratio of clean water is decrease in underground water. Because the increases in population is the main reason. We need to use water very carefully an do not water it.

Other side, I am also disagree with this. Because the level of underground water that are clean or good for consume in all countries are down. So, mostly countries use sea water to consume. But the sea water is not good for consume because this is very salty or not be clean. So, water associations uses filtration techniques to clean sea water and convert into consumable. But this is very costly. So, I this the government charges little amount for providing a clean water to public. Because there are not be problem for government for making filtration plants.

I explain some reasons that why we agree or disagree to access of clean water to the peoples. Because the low level of ground water is very large problem for us. And we don't take them easy. I know this is basic need of all people but the filtration process of sea water is so costly so we pay a little amount of charges to the government for clean water

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument regarding free water supply. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. While you mention the importance of water as a human right and the costs associated with filtration, the arguments lack depth and specific supporting evidence. The position is clear, but the explanation of why government charges might be necessary is underdeveloped. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported point with clear examples or logical consequences, rather than restating the same points multiple times.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate (e.g., 'Other side, I am also disagree'). Transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt, and the logical flow is hindered by repetitive phrasing. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to track the progression of the argument. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'on the other hand' to connect ideas more naturally and improve the overall flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good', 'clean', and 'consume'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'do not water it' (likely meaning 'waste it') and 'not be problem for government'. These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'desalination', 'infrastructure', 'subsidised', or 'sustainable management', and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('we explains', 'ratio... is decrease'), incorrect article usage, and sentence fragments. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that tense usage is consistent throughout the essay. Proofreading for common errors like missing 's' on verbs or incorrect prepositions will significantly improve your score.
