Student answer (Band 5.5)
Water is basic and fundamantal element for humans to survival. Supply of clean water to human is their basic human right. As water should be supplied to every home by the Government without paying any charges. I partially agree with this statemant.
The primary reason for my position is that, water is a basic nessacity for human beings, they are completly depended on water from growing crops to making food. Soo, i belive that water should be provided free of cost by government. In addition, there are various group of people who can not afford water if it is been charged, if they are charged for water it can be significant problem for them as it can effect their basic survival, and it would be unfair to them. Also, there is no owenership on water by a person or the government.
However, supplying water for free can lead to may problems such as, people will not value the importance of water as it is free and can waste it. It is been seen largely that humans waste things if they find it easy to get. Furthermore, There is vert limited supply of cleam water nowadays, in result of that water has to be treated and cleaned first and then supplied. The major concern is cost of cleaning process, at the end the cost is carry forwarded to genral public.
In conclusion, clean water is basic need of humans and it should be cost free but, humans should use it wiesly and save water as it is very limited available.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear, albeit partial, position. You have identified both the humanitarian argument for free water and the practical economic concerns regarding waste and infrastructure costs. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that water is a 'basic necessity,' the explanation could be deepened by discussing the role of government subsidies versus private utility management. The conclusion is brief but restates your position effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with more specific examples or logical consequences, rather than just stating the points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason,' 'In addition,' 'However,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical or repetitive transitions, such as the frequent use of 'and' to connect clauses. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to punctuation errors and run-on structures. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'infrastructure,' 'survival,' and 'treated.' However, there are several spelling errors ('fundamantal,' 'nessacity,' 'statemant,' 'wiesly') and some awkward word choices, such as 'carry forwarded' instead of 'passed on.' To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic words and expanding your range of collocations. Using more precise vocabulary, such as 'universal access' or 'resource management,' would help you move into a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('there is very limited supply'), incorrect verb forms ('it is been seen'), and punctuation errors, particularly with comma splices. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on the correct use of articles, verb tenses, and sentence boundaries. Practicing complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, will help you demonstrate better control over your grammar.
