Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited. The essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the depth of the argument. While the writer mentions the importance of clean water and the government's role, the points are under-developed. For example, the argument regarding 'high petrol prices' as a reason for free water lacks a logical connection to the main topic. To improve, you should expand on your supporting points with more detailed explanations and examples to ensure the response is fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'Hence, it is mandatory water supply should have no levy' is awkward. While there is a clear introduction and conclusion, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence flows naturally into the next to create a more cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'tex' (tax), 'hepatitus' (hepatitis), 'misireble' (miserable), and 'conclusen' (conclusion). Additionally, word choice is sometimes imprecise, such as 'acquire to clean water' instead of 'access to clean water' and 'dissolved' instead of 'resolved'. To improve, you should focus on learning correct spelling and using more academic collocations to express your ideas more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'each house should have provided free of charge water supply' (passive voice error) and 'drinking water supply to all citizen is a major issue' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound.
