Student answer (Band 5.0)

Introduction:

First of all water is the basic thing for our life. And then clean water has a great effect on human diseases. Government should provide clean water to all people. This is the basic right of all people. We know that water is an need of every person because human can not survive without water. If government provide supply of water to every home. This is a good achievement for government. The primary reason against free water distribution is the immense financial burden it places on state. treating and distributing potable water requires modern technology ,treatment plants and pipeline in every homes. If government absorb the cost entirely so they divert funding of healthcare department and public education department. The main reason in this process is financial problem. This is the duty of government to provide all facilities for people. If people get clean water freely so the trouble of their life decreases. They should provide tanks of clean water in villages because more diseases spread from villages.

conclusion:

furthermore , history shows that when people get anything free of cost then they do not respect of this. So they will do waste of clean water. because that day we if government provide resources then consumers undervalue and waste it. This is a really big problem. If pipeline leaks in household so water also waste.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the topic but fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you present arguments for both sides—the necessity of clean water as a right versus the financial burden on the state—the points are underdeveloped. The essay lacks a clear, consistent position throughout, as the introduction suggests support for free water, but the conclusion introduces a strong counter-argument without a clear synthesis. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed examples and ensure you meet the minimum length to allow for full development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. The paragraphing is problematic; the 'conclusion' section actually introduces new arguments about wastage rather than summarizing the main points. There is a lack of logical progression between sentences, and the use of cohesive devices is very limited. Phrases like 'First of all' and 'furthermore' are used, but they do not effectively link the ideas together. To improve, you should organize your essay into a standard four-paragraph structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs (one for each side of the argument), and a conclusion that summarizes your position without adding new information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'basic thing', 'good achievement', and 'big problem'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'do not respect of this' and 'do waste of clean water'. To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'infrastructure', 'fiscal constraints', 'subsidization', and 'resource management'. You should also focus on using collocations correctly, such as 'waste water' instead of 'do waste of water'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include missing articles ('If government provide'), subject-verb agreement errors ('human can not survive'), and incorrect sentence structures ('If pipeline leaks in household so water also waste'). The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, you should practice using complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses (e.g., 'If the government were to provide...'), and pay closer attention to basic grammar rules like article usage and verb tense consistency.
