Student answer (Band 6.0)
Every citizen deserves a clean water to be able to stay healthy .
So there have been a debate about if household is supposed to to have enough water without being worried about how to pay for it . I do not agree to this because there will be a water wastage, and also providing of free and clean water requires a lot of money to keep up to it which might not not be too easy for the government to handle.
On one hand, letting individuals use water without paying is a good ideal that will help the poor masses to consume clean water with no cost since not everyone can afford a neat water. But i personally think it won't be the best decision because when people have free access to clean water they might end up misusing it. So many people do not value what they have in abundance so they wast it which is not good.
on the other hand, providing free clean water for citizens will coast a lot. Considering that the water will be wasted means it is going to coast a lot to provide free water everyday so i strongly agree that water should not be free.
In summary, after thinking about every thing, i think everyone should pay for the water but maybe at a lower cost so that unnecessary water consumption will be controlled, and also so that the authorities will be able to maintain the water in other words keep the water clean.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, arguing against free water supply due to concerns about wastage and economic feasibility. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that free water leads to wastage and high costs, these points are not fully extended or supported with specific examples or deeper analysis. The essay remains quite brief in its argumentation. To reach a higher band, you should aim to elaborate on the consequences of your arguments, perhaps by discussing the impact on infrastructure or providing a hypothetical scenario regarding water management.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'on the other hand', and 'In summary' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally repetitive. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph could be smoother. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the progression of ideas within paragraphs is more fluid rather than relying on simple sentence-by-sentence connections.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'providing of free and clean water', 'good ideal', and 'coast a lot' (instead of 'cost'). These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a limited control over more sophisticated vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and avoid repeating basic terms like 'water' and 'clean' too frequently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'a clean water' (incorrect article usage), 'there have been a debate' (subject-verb agreement), and 'not not' (repetition). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper flow due to comma placement. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve your accuracy.
