Student answer (Band 5.5)
Water plays a significant role in a human life. Without water people cannot imagine their life. I strongly agree with the statement that every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge but it also have some negative effects. I will discuss about this topic in this essay with my opinion at the last.
On the one hand, it is a basic knowledge that water is very important to everyone's life. It is a basic human right and the authorities should provide access to clean water to each and every home because water is used in every work. It can be used in many works like drinking, bathing, washing of utensils and clothes, to grow plants, and so on. So, if we can see that it is very essential to our lives, then the government should understand the situation and provide enough clean water to everyone.
On the other side, if water is provided at free of cost, so it is our responsibility that we cannot use it in a bad manner. It can be used only in a way that it cannot get wasted. Otherwise, by using water in a careless manner, can become very dangerous in future. For example, if people use water without any limitation, there will be a day come that water will become extinct from the Earth.
In conclusion, I would like to say that, water can be provided to people in a sufficient manner but people also have to understand to use it in a better way.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing the idea of free water, but the development is limited. While you state your position, the arguments remain somewhat superficial. For instance, you mention that free water might lead to waste, but you do not explore the economic or social implications of 'free' services in depth. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesise the arguments presented. To improve, ensure each body paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by a detailed explanation and a concrete example, rather than listing general points. The response is somewhat repetitive in its reasoning regarding the importance of water.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other side' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition between the importance of water and the government's responsibility is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'if we can see that it is very essential', which lacks a strong connection to the preceding sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'very important', 'very essential', and 'very dangerous'. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but it is quite basic. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary. For example, instead of 'very important', you could use 'indispensable' or 'vital'. Avoid repeating the same adjectives and try to vary your word choices to demonstrate a broader range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect the clarity of your writing. Examples include 'it also have some negative effects' (subject-verb agreement), 'provided at free of cost' (incorrect preposition), and 'there will be a day come that water will become extinct' (awkward phrasing). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and refining your sentence construction to ensure that complex ideas are expressed accurately.
