Student answer (Band 6.0)

Clean Water is amongst the most basic human rights that a person has to be provided with, regardless of their demographic details such as gender, economical status or even the land they hail from. But that is not the reality for a whole lot of people even today in the day and age of such advanced technology. Let us dicuss the reasons for this happening around the world.

One of the main reasons that people aren't able to access clean and hygenic drinking water is becuase of poverty. A number of third worl countries are not able to afford machinery or technology needed for the irrigation of water. On top of that, countries who do have these gadgets, are not as generous to provide them for a lower cost in the name of humanity. Adding to the debts and despair of these countries.

Even if a government decided to provide free clean water for the whole country, it would go under a massive debt which puts national interest and economy at risk. Another reason for a shortage of clean, drinking or fresh waters is the constant use of Atificial intelligence and its use of fresh water in massive units per second.

The most recent example of shortage of water was seen in Mumbai, where only a few weeks worth fesh water remained becuase of power stations and AI hubs being built on fresh water bodies and its consumptions. These high budget ambiions of people in power make it difficult, almost impossible for every household to have accessebility to fresh water without any cost. In conclusion, it is not entirely the fault of just a single government that they can not provide water, free of charge to their people, but a lot more factors influence and manipulate that decision.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt but fails to take a clear, consistent position. The instructions ask whether you agree or disagree that every home should have free water. Your essay discusses the reasons why water is not free, but you never explicitly state whether you agree or disagree with the premise. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic burden on governments and the impact of industrial consumption, but the development is somewhat superficial. To improve, ensure you state your position clearly in the introduction and maintain that stance throughout the essay, providing balanced arguments that directly support your viewpoint rather than just describing the status quo.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the flow of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally imprecise. For example, the transition 'Adding to the debts and despair of these countries' is a sentence fragment that lacks a clear subject. While there is a logical progression from the problem of poverty to the issue of government debt and industrial consumption, the links between sentences could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence is grammatically complete would significantly improve the overall cohesion of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'demographic details,' 'irrigation,' and 'manipulate.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'hygenic' (hygienic), 'fesh' (fresh), 'dicuss' (discuss), and 'accessebility' (accessibility). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'massive units per second' or 'gadgets' to describe industrial water infrastructure. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure you proofread for spelling errors, as these minor slips currently detract from the professional tone of your argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'it would go under a massive debt' (should be 'incur massive debt') and 'the constant use of Atificial intelligence and its use of fresh water' (repetitive). There are also punctuation and capitalization issues, such as 'Atificial' and 'fesh'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles will help improve your accuracy.
