Student answer (Band 4.0)
Access to clean water is a basic human right therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge I agree with the given statement because i feel that paying for the supply of water means to pay for a life acc. to me water supply should be free of cost as it makes our household works easier such as washing clothes, washing utensils and watering plants providing water free of cost means to provide a life free of cost i think the water supply should be free because paying for water means to pay for a life there are so many diseases caused due to the consumption of dirty water so according to me water purifiers simply known as filters should be provided in every home town to provide a good health to the citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 140 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly, the arguments are repetitive and lack the necessary depth, examples, or logical extension required for an academic essay. The ideas are presented in a very basic manner, and the failure to reach the length requirement means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples, counter-arguments, and a more structured approach to ensure you meet the minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response is written as a single, long paragraph without clear sentence boundaries or logical progression. There is a lack of cohesive devices (such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'however') to link ideas together. The text relies on repetitive phrasing, such as 'paying for water means to pay for a life', which creates a circular argument rather than a coherent flow of thought. To improve, you should organize your essay into clear paragraphs (introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion) and use transition words to connect your sentences and ideas logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'water supply', 'free of cost', and 'washing'. There is no attempt to use more sophisticated or academic vocabulary appropriate for an IELTS Task 2 essay. The repetition of phrases like 'free of cost' and 'paying for a life' indicates a restricted range of expression. To improve, you should aim to use a wider variety of synonyms and topic-specific vocabulary related to public policy, human rights, and economic infrastructure.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains significant grammatical issues, primarily the lack of punctuation. The entire text is essentially a run-on sentence, which makes it difficult to read and understand. There are frequent errors in sentence structure, capitalization (e.g., 'i'), and basic grammar. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures, which are necessary for higher band scores. To improve, focus on using full stops to separate sentences and ensure that each sentence has a clear subject and verb. Practice using complex sentences with subordinating conjunctions.
