Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the modern era, it is unacceptable if people do not get clean water. water is basic needs of people and utmost for survival. On that note people should get quality water as their formal human rights and to have a proper water supply that is with zero cost. I agree with the notion without any qualms and the reason for the same have been discussed further.

There are numerous reasons justifying my opinion. Firstly the clean water is necessary for the people for their better health so that they do not get ill or some kind of dieases . for example , people who get contaminated water may get frequently ill because of water bacteria.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 116 words. This severely limits your ability to develop your ideas. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the body paragraph is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary depth, examples, and counter-arguments required for an academic essay. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific evidence and ensure you address all parts of the prompt thoroughly. Because the response is less than half the required length, it fails to meet the basic requirements of the task, which significantly impacts the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into two short paragraphs, but the lack of content makes it difficult to assess your ability to organize ideas logically. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'for example', but the progression of ideas is stunted due to the brevity of the text. To achieve a higher band, you need to develop full paragraphs with clear topic sentences and a logical flow of supporting arguments, using a wider range of cohesive devices to link your ideas more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally functional but limited. You use basic terms like 'modern era', 'basic needs', and 'unacceptable'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'dieases' (spelling error) and 'without any qualms', which is slightly unnatural in this context. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary related to the topic of human rights and public policy. Expanding your range of collocations and ensuring accurate spelling will help you move toward a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is simple and contains several errors. For instance, 'water is basic needs of people' should be 'water is a basic need for people', and 'the clean water is necessary' should not have the definite article. There are also punctuation issues, such as the spacing around commas. Your sentence structures are mostly simple; you need to demonstrate a better command of complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, while reducing the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
