Student answer (Band 5.0)

Water supply should be provided at every home for free of charge because Access to clean water is a basic human right. I largely agree with this statement.

Water is most essential element for the human body. Human body consist of 75% water. A single person requires to drink 2-3 liters of water every day. If a people have access to polluted water source then he might face health problems. For example under develop countries such as Nigeria, Sudan where Gut related health problems are major issue have access to polluted source of water compared to countries such as USA and UK.

Water is also required for routine Use in home for works such as cooking, bathing, washing clothes and utensils. Dirty access of water causes issue In day to day activity .Bathing in poor water causes several skin problems similarly cooking and washing clothes and utensils leads to major health issues. Nations with higher human development index have access to a clear source of water.

Even providing Access to clean water is not enough.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 175 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly, the arguments regarding the economic feasibility of free water are entirely absent. You mention health issues in developing nations, but the discussion remains superficial and lacks the depth required for a Band 6 or higher. To improve, you must expand your arguments, provide more detailed explanations, and address the counter-arguments or implications of providing a free utility, ensuring the response is fully developed and meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally mechanical. For example, the transition between the health benefits of water and the domestic uses of water is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'Dirty access of water causes issue In day to day activity.' Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition') would help create a smoother flow between your points and improve the overall logical structure of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'access to clean water' and 'health problems'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'Dirty access of water' and 'Gut related health problems'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'infrastructure', 'universal access', 'socio-economic implications', or 'sanitation standards', and ensure that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include article usage ('a people', 'a clear source'), subject-verb agreement ('Human body consist'), and awkward phrasing ('requires to drink'). Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, such as the random capitalization in 'In day to day activity'. While your meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors interfere with the fluency of the text. Focusing on basic sentence construction, correct article usage, and proofreading for minor errors will significantly improve your grammatical accuracy.
