Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. For example, the argument regarding 'economy boost' is unclear and lacks logical support, as the connection between free water and international tourism is not well-explained. The points about health and fundamental needs are relevant but remain at a superficial level. To improve, you should provide more concrete examples or logical explanations for your claims, ensuring that each paragraph contributes meaningfully to your overall argument rather than repeating the same basic points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use transition signals like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly. For instance, the phrase 'On the one hand' is used without a corresponding 'On the other hand' structure, which creates confusion. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack clear logical links to the previous ones, making the flow of the argument feel somewhat stilted. Improving the use of cohesive devices to connect ideas more naturally would significantly enhance the readability of your work.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'water', 'need', and 'provide'. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'water bone disease' (should be 'water-borne') and 'regimes' (which often carries a negative political connotation). Furthermore, phrases like 'praise much after going their county' are unclear and impede communication. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and focus on using words that are appropriate for a formal academic context, ensuring that your collocations are accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally make the meaning difficult to follow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people are stay healthy'), missing articles (e.g., 'is a only source'), and incorrect sentence structures (e.g., 'when government provide clean water so the people not face starving'). While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty and contain errors in punctuation and word order. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and pluralization.
