Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is undeniable that clean water is a basic human need that must be provided to everyone at free of cost. While it is not as straight forward as it seems, I strongly agree with the statement that authorities should take initiatives reagarding this issue.

There are many reasons why clean water should be supllied to every home free of charge. To commense with, water specifically clean water considered to be the life of individuals. The necessity of clean is enormous. Human beings can not survive a single day without water. Every single activity from drinking to bathing to cooking clean water is a must. For example, if a locality is deprived of clean water it can be proven to be detrimental. Without clean water people will suffer from several water born diseases which may lead to death. Another reason is that food production also depends on clean water. Without the supply of clean water farmers will not be able to produce staple crops which will also cause struggle for human to be survived.

It is not simple for the government to provide clean water supply to everyone of the society at free of cost but they can take some measures to impliment this. The reasons discussed above are more than enough to consider clean water as a basic human right, and it is the duty of the government to ensure basic needs of their citizen. Government should take initiatives to install tubewells to ensure clean and safe water, as installing tubewells for each home is difficult, they can provide it for every 3/4 homes at a common location. The authority must ensure clean water supply for every home in cities as tubewells can not be installed due to lack of land in the densely populated cities.

To sum up, although it is costly to supply clean water to every home free of charge, I believe that authorities should take proper actions to ensure this becasue water in one of the vital resources for human lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on health and survival as justifications for free water. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the health implications are well-explained, the practical implementation section is slightly repetitive and lacks depth regarding the economic feasibility of such a policy. The argument would be stronger if it addressed the 'free of charge' aspect more critically, perhaps by discussing the role of taxation or government subsidies to balance the cost. Overall, the response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, moving from the necessity of water to the government's role in provision. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commense with', 'Another reason is', and 'To sum up', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, although the connection between the paragraph on health and the paragraph on government implementation could be tightened to improve the flow of the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'supllied', 'commense', 'reagarding', and 'impliment'. Additionally, some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'at free of cost' instead of 'free of charge' or 'at no cost'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'detrimental' and 'staple crops', the overall lexical range is somewhat limited. Improving spelling and refining word choice would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including missing articles ('the necessity of clean is enormous'), subject-verb agreement issues ('water... considered to be'), and awkward phrasing ('struggle for human to be survived'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some run-on sentences and minor errors in comma usage. While the meaning is rarely impeded, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
