Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the necessity of clean water and the feasibility of providing it free of charge. You present a clear position, arguing that while water is a basic right, the economic burden on governments is significant. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the cost of infrastructure is relevant, but the final suggestion to charge only the wealthy is a bit underdeveloped and lacks a detailed explanation of how such a system would function. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with specific examples or logical consequences.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or mechanical. For instance, you start multiple sentences with 'No doubt' or 'Thus'. The transition between the problem of water scarcity and the economic argument is a bit abrupt. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'on the other hand') to create a smoother flow between your ideas and to better connect your sentences within paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'housew', 'esential', 'percetage', 'sistuation', 'Industralization', 'polutted', 'transfering', 'governemnt', 'suplying', 'encourged', 'govenment', 'poors'). These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the essay. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'urbanization' and 'health hazards', the range is limited. Focusing on accuracy in spelling and using more precise collocations will significantly improve your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'government have to'), missing articles (e.g., 'to house', 'to poors'), and punctuation errors. For example, 'thats why various governments make plans' is a run-on structure that lacks proper punctuation. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the text from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
