Student answer (Band 5.5)

Clean water is the most important and basic need for the human beings. So accessing the clean water is the right of the human. In my opinion, it is more necessary to use clean water because it benefits to stay healthy, for drinking, for cooking, washing utensils, cleaning homes and do many other things for our living purposes.

I strongly believe that the people all over the world despite by their color, creed, culture and every other factor, everyone needs fresh water for their personal use. The gardeners need water to give it to their plants. If they gave the pure water to them, plants grew healthy, provide us beautiful flowers, it also cleans the atmosphere.

In restaurants and homes, water is used for cleaning floor, cooking food, washing clothes, making juices .If water is not clean THEN EVRYTHING GET SPOILD. The floors, clothes remains dirty, juices are unhygienic. The people who take it, get sick and also effects the reputation of the restaurants. While in homes, the people are then admitted in hospitals. They will unable to do their routine jobs. They may suffer financially because of hospital expenditures.

In factories, the water is used in many products. The products are produced in vast amount. So when they are delivered and used by local people it affects the whole group of people who used it and SUFFERED WITH health issues. On the other side, the factory may face loss of their retailors etc.

In conclusion, the water is the basic human need all over the world, so I strongly agree that use of clean water made the life more beautiful ,healthy, enjoyable, has a good impact on atmosphere too.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of free water access. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention domestic, agricultural, and industrial uses, the arguments lack depth and fail to address the core economic or logistical implications of providing water 'free of charge'. The focus remains on the importance of clean water rather than the feasibility or fairness of the 'free' aspect. To improve, you should explore the counter-arguments or the economic consequences of such a policy to provide a more balanced and comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally mechanical (e.g., 'In conclusion', 'In factories'). Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, such as the shift from gardening to restaurant hygiene. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the paragraph about factories, where the link between the product and the health issues is not explicitly explained. More varied linking words and better logical flow between sentences would improve the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'healthy', and 'things'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'give it to their plants' instead of 'irrigate' or 'water their plants', and 'reputation of the restaurants' which is slightly off-topic in this context. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to public policy and resource management.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently omit articles (e.g., 'accessing the clean water', 'in factories, the water is used'). There are also errors in verb tense and subject-verb agreement, such as 'plants grew healthy' (should be 'grow') and 'They will unable' (should be 'They will be unable'). Punctuation is also problematic, with inconsistent capitalization and spacing. While the meaning is generally clear, these frequent errors indicate a lack of control over complex structures.
