Student answer (Band 5.5)
Clean water is the base of human life and health and not only humans but animals and other species deserve clean and safe water to drink. Therefore every house should have a water supply free of cost because its basic human need.
The main reason for that is the whole life cycle is based on it and it’s the most important need of our body to survive. If we consume dirty water or the water with impurities we may get sick and different viral infections may attack our immune system. So, it’s compulsory to get fresh water. It helps us to stay hydrated as well as healthy.
Therefore every house governments should make suitable resources to provide everyone safe and clean water because it’s their responsibility to provide fresh drinkable water. For instance, in my region our local mayor provide every single house a pipeline link which connects to a water purification plant system and that plant provides fresh and clean water to every home and every water tap. And by the time, the management is also planning to improve it on a big scale to cover more areas near to our region as its their primary goal to provide everyone safe and clean water.
To conclude my statement, I would like to say that our lives and this ecosystem depends on the water so Government should provide free fresh water supplies to everyone and every home in all areas and counties so we can live a healthy and productive lifestyle without getting sick.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention health benefits and government responsibility, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth regarding the economic or logistical implications of 'free' water. To reach a higher band, you should explore counter-arguments or provide more nuanced reasoning about the sustainability of such a policy. The example provided is relevant but could be more effectively integrated to support the broader argument rather than just describing a local situation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'Therefore' and 'For instance' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. For example, the jump from discussing health to government responsibility could be smoother. Additionally, the use of referencing is sometimes repetitive, which slightly hinders the natural flow of the text. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'hydrated', 'impurities', and 'purification plant'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic vocabulary such as 'good', 'healthy', and 'important'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and less common lexical items. There are also some minor word-choice issues, such as 'base of human life' instead of 'fundamental to human life', which suggest a need for more precise academic phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the whole life cycle'), subject-verb agreement issues ('mayor provide'), and punctuation errors (missing spaces after periods). These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To achieve a higher band, you need to increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
