Student answer (Band 6.0)
Water is a blessing of God and is essential need for our survival. In world, water is used for many purposes such as cleaning, cooking, and drinking but, clean water is required for drinking purpose. So, every human has a right of access to clean water. Therefore, every home should have a supply of water which is free of charge. In this essay, we will discuss the above statement with arguments in detail and i will tell that am i agree or disagree in the end?
To begin, water is essential need for every life on earth such as for humans, plants and animals. Humans need water for various purposes of daily life such as cooking, washing and drinking. Human needs only clean water for every purpose as well as for good health. In world, many countries like England, Japan, China has a good supply of clean water. In these countries, people don't face any challenge of water shortage as well as dirty water.
On the other hand, Pakistan, India, Australia face the problems of water. In these countries, system of water supply is not adequate. Some people face the shortage of water and some face limited supply of clean water. In Pakistan, Karachi is the city where people paid fares for clean water. Water is supply in different areas of Karachi through large tank but it is not free of cost. But people of poor societies have not enough fares to buy clean water. Therefore, people have poor health especially children's growth become stunt. Moreover, many gut diseases spread like cholera, hepatitis and many others which impact health of people.
In conclusion, I will agree that water supply should free of cost for every person and for every home. Government should take actions on the health problems and should also build the water plant which filters the water and give clean water to every home.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water access. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the essay provides relevant examples regarding water scarcity in countries like Pakistan and Australia, the argument lacks depth. The introduction is slightly repetitive, and the conclusion simply restates the position without summarizing the main points effectively. To reach a higher band, you should focus on providing more nuanced arguments, such as discussing the economic implications for governments or the potential for tiered pricing systems, rather than just stating that water should be free.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly forced. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the list of countries (England, Japan, China) is followed by a generalization that may not be entirely accurate or well-integrated. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong, unified topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express basic ideas clearly. However, there is a lack of variety and precision. Phrases like 'blessing of God' and 'essential need' are somewhat repetitive. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'paid fares for clean water' (should be 'pay for' or 'purchase') and 'children's growth become stunt' (should be 'stunted'). To improve, you should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to public policy and health.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include missing articles ('In world' instead of 'In the world'), subject-verb agreement errors ('many countries... has' instead of 'have'), and incorrect verb forms ('water is supply' instead of 'is supplied'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. Increasing the use of error-free complex sentences and focusing on basic article and tense consistency would significantly improve your score.
