Student answer (Band 5.5)
The human body is made up of 76% water and water is essential for human body. Therefore, supply of clean water without any fee is a basic human right. Yes, i agree with this statement and support this in the upcoming paragraphs.
First and foremost thing is that human beings cannot survive without water. To explain, a human body is made up of 76% water and to maintain the health clean water is very important. Secondly, dirty water can cause a lot of infections that can lead ultimately to even death. For instance, according to the data of WHO of last decade, around 20% of deaths in children are caused by unclean water.
Thirdly, every person living in the country is paying tax in one form or other so there should be proper supply of clean water without charges. Furthermore, this is the responsibility of government of the country to provide access to clean water for the citizens of the country. For example, In Developed countries, there is a rule for taking care of senior citizens in terms of their food, water, medicines and living so availability of clean water is very little thing in front of this so it should be provided with free of cost.
In conclusion, water is essential in many ways for a healthy body and it's the basic need of each and every living being so it should be provided to every home without any charges so that people of the country remain healthy and they don't have to pay extra for it

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favour of free water. The ideas are relevant, particularly the health implications and the role of government. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding taxes is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of economic feasibility or the potential downsides of such a policy. The essay remains somewhat repetitive, focusing heavily on the health aspect rather than exploring the broader implications of 'free' services. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced arguments or counter-arguments to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Secondly', 'Thirdly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. For example, the phrase 'human body is made up of 76% water' is repeated in the first and second paragraphs, which disrupts the logical flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph introduces a distinct, non-repetitive point would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'infections', 'government', and 'citizens'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simple phrasing. There are also minor errors in collocation and word choice, such as 'availability of clean water is very little thing' and 'provided with free of cost' (the 'with' is unnecessary). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to public policy and socio-economic concepts to demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the government', 'the country'), incorrect preposition usage, and issues with subject-verb agreement. For example, 'it's the basic need' should be 'it is a basic need'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of lowercase 'i' for the first-person pronoun. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic articles and pronoun usage would be highly beneficial.
