Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water supply. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you mention the needs of poor people and the role of government, the arguments lack depth and specific supporting evidence. The essay tends to restate the same points rather than extending them logically. To improve, you should focus on developing distinct arguments in each paragraph, such as the economic impact on the government versus the social benefits for citizens, rather than repeating the same general statements about 'free water' and 'government responsibility'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is frequently disrupted by repetitive phrasing and a lack of clear logical progression. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion', they are often used incorrectly or in a way that does not link ideas smoothly. The sentences within paragraphs often feel disconnected, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. To improve, focus on using transition words more accurately and ensuring that each sentence builds upon the previous one to create a cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'water', 'give', 'provide', and 'clean'. There is little evidence of less common vocabulary or precise collocations. Many phrases are awkward, such as 'water is need every human basic things uses', which makes the meaning unclear at times. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more academic and topic-specific terms, such as 'infrastructure', 'subsidized', 'socio-economic', or 'public utility', and work on using words in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, including run-on sentences, missing articles, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they did not given proper clean water'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic syntax. To improve, you must focus on mastering fundamental sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of prepositions and articles. Proofreading for basic punctuation and sentence boundaries would also significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
