Student answer (Band 6.0)
Access to pure water is a fundamental human right. However, every house should have free supply of water without any charge. This essay agrees water is a basic human right and all houses should have access to free water supply.
I strongly believe that water is a universal human right and it is also a basic necessity of life. Therefore, it is very important that every home has access to clean water without any payment. Individuals can’t survive without drinking clean water on a daily basis, this is why scientists recommend drink 2-3 liters of pure water a day for survival. Without water, people can’t survive because the average human body contains about 70% of water.
Clean water is required for our daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, drinking and washing.
However, it is very important for the government to make clean water to be accessible to every household without payment. People should not pay for basic requirements of life such as clean water because it is essential for survival and people cannot live life without it. Making people pay for clean water will create inequality, as wealthy individuals will be able to afford it, wheat as the poor will struggle to drink safe water and lack of clean water in a house can lead to a various diseases and even death can occur.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that safe water should be provided for free of charge because it is a fundamental human right and basic necessity of life. Moreover, all houses should have access to pure water because it is required for human survival and all our daily activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding human rights and the prevention of inequality are relevant. However, the development is somewhat repetitive; the essay focuses heavily on the necessity of water for survival without exploring the practical or economic implications of providing it free of charge, such as infrastructure costs or resource management. This limits the depth of the argument. To reach a higher band, you should consider counter-arguments or the logistical challenges of such a policy to provide a more balanced and comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However', 'Therefore', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there is a lack of variety in linking phrases. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using more sophisticated cohesive devices to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple conjunctions.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and sophistication. You use basic terms like 'pure water', 'basic requirements', and 'daily activities' repeatedly. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'wheat as' (likely a misspelling of 'whereas') and 'make clean water to be accessible', which is slightly unnatural. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'recommend drink' (should be 'recommend drinking'), 'contains about 70% of water' (should be 'contains about 70% water'), and 'lead to a various diseases' (should be 'lead to various diseases'). Punctuation is mostly correct, but there are occasional missing spaces after periods. The range of structures is sufficient, but the frequency of errors prevents a higher score.
