Student answer (Band 6.0)

Availability of clean water is a basic right of human and free of cost water supply should be provided to every home. I totally agree with the view and this essay discusses the reasons with related examples to support my view.

Water is a most basic human need. Doesn't matter where a person belongs to, he needs water to live. In the past, we have seen many conflicts on water. For example: India and Pakistan ressolve the indus water issue with treaty. Purpose of previous example was just to realise the worldwide importance of water. In under developed countries, we usually see the compromised quality of drinking water. Facilities of filtered or standardised drinking water has not provided to them. Government and NGOs have installed the number of water filtered plants in cities but their numbers are not enough for rural and under privileged sites of their country. It must be considered as a basic right and should reach to everyone. Governments should take serious steps to ensure the clean water access to everyone. Moreover, it is the most basic component of global public health and food security.

In the desserts of Rajhastan and Cholistan, peoples are helplessly collect the rain water in small ponds where they and their animal use water for drinking. This is simply the voilation of basic human right and strict actions and steps should be taken to help these communities. Already they survived the hard summed in desserts, this is injustice with them. Governments already installed the waters sources but are not enough.

In colclusion, free water to everyone is a basic human right and there are many communities around the globe that still waiting for the clean water facilities. Concerned gevernments must ensure the access of drinking water to everyone and consider this global issue with serious attention.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water supply. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of global health and the specific examples of water scarcity in Rajasthan and Cholistan. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument focuses heavily on the 'need' for water rather than the economic or logistical implications of providing it 'free of charge,' which is a key part of the prompt. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments could be more nuanced to fully explore the complexities of the topic. The essay meets the requirements for a Band 6.0 as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, though some points are under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a clear introduction and conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Purpose of previous example was just to realise...' and 'Already they survived the hard summed in desserts'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. While the overall progression is coherent, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional reliance on simple transitions keeps this in the Band 6.0 range.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'public health,' 'food security,' and 'treaty.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'hard summed' (likely meaning 'hard summers'), 'voilation' (spelling), and 'peoples are helplessly collect'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited range that prevents a higher score. The vocabulary is sufficient to discuss the topic but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('peoples are helplessly collect', 'Facilities... has not provided') and article usage errors ('in the desserts', 'the number of water filtered plants'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the main points. The control of punctuation and sentence structure is inconsistent. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
