Student answer (Band 6.0)
Water is an universal basic entity, which should be provided in its purest form without any cost to each household.
Having free water supply can be beneficial to those who can not afford personal purifiers and modern day electronics to clean water. Water-born diseases like cholera still persist in the developing countries like India, which leads to overburdened health care system. Along with drinking, microbes in water can be ingested via food, bathing and washing hands and utensils. Till this that there is no life found water therefore; it becomes essential for survival. The authorities should ensure to provide this vital source of survival to everyone without any charges.
However; water is a basic thing to live the supplies still apply few charges to maintain a regulation. If provide free of cost people will not acknowledge its importance and it will be overutilized. As it is well known that portable water is slowly depleting from the planet due to various climatic changes and its effect on environment. Therefore; it is high time that we save water and charging it for home supply is one way to control it.
Water is essential for survival and it should be used sustainably but it should be free of cost. Although increasing scarcity of water is well known but instead of charging a cost it should be supplied free cost in a limited volume. Limited or family sized fixed volumes of water supply can be a solution which is sustainable as well as free of cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the right to free water while acknowledging the need for conservation. However, the position is somewhat contradictory; the introduction and conclusion argue for free water, yet the body paragraphs acknowledge that charging is necessary to prevent overutilization. This inconsistency weakens the overall argument. While the ideas are relevant, they are not fully developed. For instance, the suggestion of 'limited volume' is a good point, but it is introduced late and lacks sufficient elaboration to support a cohesive stance. To reach a higher band, you should maintain a consistent position throughout and provide more detailed explanations for your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the use of semicolons is frequently incorrect, such as 'However; water is...' and 'Therefore; it is high time...'. Additionally, some transitions feel abrupt, and the logical flow between the argument for free water and the argument for charging for water is disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and punctuation would significantly enhance the readability and logical progression of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'universal basic entity' (instead of 'essential resource') and 'portable water' (which should be 'potable water'). You also use 'free cost' repeatedly, which is redundant. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context. Expanding your range of synonyms and learning common collocations related to environmental and social issues will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include missing articles ('in developing countries'), incorrect preposition usage, and subject-verb agreement errors ('supplies still apply few charges'). The misuse of semicolons is a recurring issue throughout the text. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will be beneficial.
