Student answer (Band 6.5)

Increasingly, debate surrounding the widespread shify towards clean water as a basic human right has gained significant attention. Although there are different views on this matter, I strongly believe that removing monetary charges on the water usage to ensure enough water supply to everyone is the most pragmatic approach to adopt in modern society.

A primary justification for this view is that it significantly enhances not only water affordability but also ensures its proper supply to the poor. Specifically, poor people can use clean water and comfortably enjoy a healthy life-style. For instance, many healthcare institutions reported a massive improvements in the hygeine of the poor people.

Admittely, a noticeable increase in the wastage of water cannot be ignored. This is specifically because people with overuse the water as it is free of cost. To illustrate this drawback, many municipalities often find it extremely difficult to meet increasing demand of water supply. However, provided there is sensible management this issue can be resolved. Therefore, we should still focus on removing monetary charges on the water usage to ensure enough water supply to everyone rather than worrying too much about short-term consequences.

In conclusion, when looking at the issue of clean water as a basic human right the best choice is clear. I firmly maintain that removing monetary charges on the water usage to ensure enough water supply to everyone is the most effective approach. While concerns regarding increase in the wastage of water are valid, the long-term advantages ultimately outweigh any temporary setbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided a relevant argument for the benefits of free water and acknowledged the counter-argument regarding wastage. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about healthcare improvements is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with specific evidence. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your reasoning with more depth and concrete examples. The conclusion effectively restates your position, ensuring the task requirements are met.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'A primary justification', 'Specifically', 'Admittedly', and 'However' to guide the reader through your argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid and that you avoid repetitive phrasing when introducing your points. Overall, the structure is clear and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'pragmatic', 'municipalities', and 'consequences'. However, there are some spelling errors, such as 'shify' (shift), 'hygeine' (hygiene), and 'Admittely' (Admittedly). Additionally, some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'massive improvements in the hygeine of the poor people' and 'people with overuse the water'. To improve, focus on proofreading for spelling and refining your collocations to sound more natural. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary will also help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'removing monetary charges on the water usage' (the article 'the' is unnecessary here) and 'people with overuse the water' (incorrect verb structure). Punctuation is generally accurate, but there are minor slips that occasionally distract the reader. To achieve a higher band, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also be beneficial.
