Student answer (Band 5.5)
Water is the basic need human, None can live without the supply of water.I believe supply of clean water is the basic human right and It also should be free to people to access and charging for it should be illegal.
In my country Pakistan the water isn’t have a good PH level so they have to filter it first and most of the people can’t afford it and only because of this many people had to suffer from serious health issues. We have already seen it in the recent report of CNN which shows that the patients suffering from water related disease have a huge jump and it is very threatening to our country and we need to take actions immediatly.
Well there are some people who sees it as a business oppertunity and wants to charge people on the supply of clean water to their home. It should be the government responsibility to provide clear water to their people.
But there are some private towns and colonies which are not under the government rule they usually charge people for clean water access to their home we as an educated nation should strongly protest against them and teach them what are the rules of life.In this regard there is also one thing which I would like to highlight that in my country Pakistan the water isn’t clean so they have to filter the water first which cost them money and government should give then relief so that they provide it to the public.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that water should be free. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the situation in Pakistan and the role of the government, the arguments lack depth and logical extension. For instance, you mention that charging for water is a 'business opportunity' but do not fully explore the economic implications or the counter-arguments regarding the cost of infrastructure maintenance. The response stays relevant, but the ideas are presented in a somewhat disjointed manner, and the conclusion does not effectively summarize your position or provide a final thought, which is necessary for a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is often weak. You use some cohesive devices, but they are frequently mechanical or misused, such as starting sentences with 'Well' or 'But' in a way that feels informal. The transition between the idea of private towns and the government's responsibility is abrupt. Furthermore, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, in the final paragraph, it is not immediately obvious what 'they' refers to in the phrase 'they have to filter the water'. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'serious', and 'huge'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'water isn't have a good PH level' (should be 'does not have') and 'water related disease' (should be 'water-related diseases'). You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the range is limited. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and to express your ideas with greater nuance and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('water isn't have'), missing articles ('the basic need human'), and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods. There are also run-on sentences and fragments that disrupt the flow. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction, correct verb forms, and consistent punctuation will help you demonstrate better control over your writing.
